Is Liam Payne going to be the latest member of One Direction to release a new solo record? It seems so.

The former boyband member has signed a major new deal, but it\'s not with his ex-boss Simon Cowell.

Instead, he\'s opted to ink a new contract with Capitol Records, who look after 5 Seconds of Summer and Sam Smith.

Louis Tomlinson, meanwhile, has yet to announce any plans for a music project, but is currently appearing as a guest judge on

judge and Girls Aloud star Cheryl – has been in the studio with Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa, working on a more hip-hop-influenced sound.

He also revealed plans to take up a role behind the scenes, particularly putting his songwriting talents to good use on songs for Jennifer Lopez.
