Nights are becoming shorter as days become longer in Michigan during this summer. Almost all families ran to the nearest coastline to catch some sun to be tanned または to swim または just plain strolling によって the beach. But not in a certain house a few blocks away from where the sea meet the land. In Cuddy’s family house, things are moving like she’s still in New Jersey with piles of work to do. Rachel had been with a hired nanny since she woke up as her mother does some paperwork in the dining hall. “What?” he asked after drinking some water from the fridge.
“You know the reason why, I don’t have to repeat our rules,” she 発言しました without looking up to him.
“I didn’t drink from your water bottle,” he admitted, “even if I did, would that matter?” Cuddy rolled her eyes again and turned her head to face him as he leaned on the キッチン counter.
“You jogged.” House sighed and straightened up before he returned the water bottle back to the fridge.
“So?”
“You’ve just been released from rehab and therapy a week 前 and all you’re doing since then was use your leg excessively,” her tone were mixture of concern and order-bounds. House curved his back to look at her, with his body still in front of the opened fridge, “are あなた still a doctor?” He closed it and sat 次 to her, “because certainly most of them, I mean most of US, recommend exercise and if あなた meant I use it excessively I could bite that since we just had sex while standing up,” he added as he hid the truth that they didn’t had sex while standing up, actually, they still aren’t having sex since they settled in the house a week ago.
Cuddy looked up to him and her annoyance can’t be denied, “shut up,” but she loves how he could take her pissed mood away. “Who’s with you?” she asked.
“Who’s with you? I thought you’re the one who rode me to climax last night.”
“I meant, this morning, when あなた went for a jog,” she 発言しました ignoring the words that came out from his mouth.
“Oh, James, the neighbor,” he 発言しました with thumb pointing to the white house just beside theirs and she nodded. “I don’t want あなた to be going out there alone,” she said.
“What’s that?” he asked with eyes on the paper that were placed under her right hand and some where held によって her left.
“I’m planning a birthday party,” she 発言しました with a smile while looking at the paper too, “it’s up within this week. I want it to be special for Rachel.”
“Kiddy party?”
“Of course it is,” the words were 発言しました with a state-the-obvious sound as they look at each other again, “and speaking of James ---“
“You want me to invite his kids, sure, my pleasure,” House stood up, trying to deflect from the subject knowing where Cuddy’s words are bound to end. He doesn’t want to talk about it… yet. When they got in the house a week ago, they have sat down and have already talked about whatever it is that happened between her and Wilson. Like a married couple they have decided to leave it behind and won’t open it again unless they’re both ready to feel the pain of knowing it really did happened または maybe when the pain itself doesn’t feel that painful anymore. She eyed his movement as he was about to leave the dining hall.
“House.” He turned.
“Talked with Wilson lately?”
“No,” honestly 発言しました but with some sore in his words. Cuddy lifted herself up and stood in front of him.
“Do me a favor…”
“To change Rachel’s diapers, I would do that but not ---“
“I want Wilson on Rachel’s birthday…”
“Then invite him yourself,” he 発言しました with no emotion at all as he turned back to walk to the bedroom but Cuddy pulled his arm that made him turn back again. Her mouth wasn’t releasing words but her eyes do. They’re urging him to fold and just admit that he misses his best friend too and to pick up the damn phone and give a call. He sighed knowing her stare could just melt him any moment now.
“Fine,” he finally snapped, “I’ll do it after shower.”
She smiled. “I 愛 you,” she 発言しました before leaning フォワード, 前進, 楽しみにして and giving him a キッス on the lips. He smiled when she pulled back and walked to the 表, テーブル to do the planning stuffs again.
An 時 later, Cuddy silently closed her bedroom door and walked straight back to the キッチン to finish the plans she has in mind for her daughter’s birthday. She stopped によって the doorway when she saw House standing によって the porch doorframe with curtains smoothly trailing on his arms. She smiled with the view of the phone lying on the 表, テーブル that turned into a paper weight. She hugged him from behind since he didn’t bother to turn around.
“What’d he say?” she asked carefully, limiting words to make him comfortable of opening up what he feels. He sighed and turned to look at her.
“He’ll be here before dinner.”
“Thank you…”
He nodded but still she knows he’s holding something back. A fear of losing something… someone.
“Hey,” she looked straight into his eyes with one hand holding his neck, “you won’t loose me.”
“Yah, what if someday I will, what if ---“ he began lamenting his fears.
“House”.
“It’s not my dream to loose you, how hard could it be to believe that?”
“I never 発言しました I do not believe あなた that’s why I am reassuring あなた that あなた won’t.”
“What if ---“
“Shh,” she stopped him によって putting her finger on his lips, “stop with what if’s and start believing what’s now.” He smiled on her words and kissed the fingers that were on his lips before pulling her for a もっと見る passionate kiss.
It’s almost seven in the evening when Wilson pulled his car in front of Cuddy’s family home. Too bad it was only Cuddy and him who were talking since he got there. Sure, he talked with House but hi’s and hello’s and please-pass-the-pasta were as far as they’ve got. There were a lot of awkward silence between them during ディナー but Cuddy would open a topic just for topic so no one would stand up to leave.
Later that night, House saw Wilson standing によって the backyard porch. He offered him a glass of scotch which the oncologist gratefully took but their eyes had never met so close like what they usually did.
“How’s Plainsboro?” House asked as he twirled his glass while looking フォワード, 前進, 楽しみにして to nowhere like what Wilson’s doing.
“Still Plainsboro.” The diagnostician nodded. Cuddy saw them from the living room and smiled to see the two began to open doors for each other again before going to ベッド with Rachel.
“You guys are coming back?” Wilson asked.
“I guess so. Actually, we should. Cuddy’s got a lot of work to do and I have to be back at work too.”
“Great. If you’re planning to go back, give me a call. I’ll go get you,” Wilson offered with a look to House this time.
“Thank you.” Wilson nodded and placed the glass on the 表, テーブル before turning back, ready to leave. As he began to walk back to the kitchen, House called out his name that made him look at his old friend.
“This awkward distance’s…. killing me,” House finally ripped his mask of numbness and his words were soft and kind.
“You don’t think I deserve this?”
“No,” he said, “go get your glass again and have a drink with me.”
“If I don’t feel deserving to ride an elevator with you, what もっと見る to have a drink tonight?”
“Come on,” he picked up the glass and offered it back, “it’s Chivas.” There had been silence for two 分 as Wilson look at House with so many 質問 in his eyes and battling thoughts owned his head.
House rolled his eyes when he felt his arm’s weakening having that position for quiet awhile so he sighed as he brought down the glass again. “This isn’t eight grade. Don’t think I am crying myself to sleep because of what あなた did.”
“Is this part of your rehab? --- Because あなた sound like un – House to me.”
House sighed again, “Cuddy and I talked about it and I think I’m on to let it go. So,” he picked up the glass and offered it again, “would あなた be an adult too and 移動する on from that stupidity?” Wilson gave out a grin and his friend smiled the moment he snatched the glass and walked back to where he stood awhile ago.
“I knew you’ll fold. It’s Chivas,” House teased and watched によって as his friend gulped the first round. “Whoa, hold it…” he moved and took the bottle from the 表, テーブル and poured some to each of their glasses.
“But seriously House,” Wilson opened it again, “I’m sorry”. His friend looked at him and grinned.
“No biggie,” the bottle was returned on the 表, テーブル and a glass was raised in the air, “for the friendship…”
Wilson smiled and raised his glass too, “for the friendship…”
A quiet click followed before simple laughs were shared again.
