Not at all! Rowling is British, so she wrote about British characters, it's as simple as that. One of the best things about the 本 is that anyone from any country can find something to relate to in the story. The series may be set in the UK but, like all great literature, the ハート, 心 of it is universal :)
It takes place in Britain... I'm sorry, but do あなた think that it would be realistic for the characters to sit around all 日 going "OMG guess what North American Wizards do?!" She doesn't mention very much about wizards on any of the other continents either.
Do あなた complain about literature and other media that take place in North America not mentioning Britain every three seconds? I think not.
There actually is some info about North American wizarding culture if あなた take the time to look for it. I suggest the Harry Potter wiki.
Not really. Though I see no reason why she couldn't have mentioned other nationalities at Hogwarts; except for France and Bulgaria as bri-marie^referenced. I suppose in her world wizadry is a primarily U.K. attribute.

And I believe she mentioned something about the Salem Witches Institution in one of the books, which is obviously American, but I may be wrong...I remember her mentioning something about a Ministry of Magic in North America.

Not at all. Beyond the UK, she only mentions France and Bulgaria in the books.
Besides, as others has pointed out, it's a book written in the UK, and set in the UK. Do all your American 本 mention anything in the UK (wizards, vampires, goblins, ghosts, magicians, werewolves, regular humans)? No. Not even remotely close, so why would 本 in the UK mention American wizards?
Yeah, a little bit. I know it's set in the UK but when I was 読書 the Goblet of 火災, 火 I was like, 'WHY CAN'T AN AMERICAN SCHOOL BE IN THE TRI-WIZARD TOURNAMENT?' But then again, I really like that aspect of it too, y'know that she kept it purely British.
Edit: Okay, I take that back. Not left out, I just hoped that she might mention American wizards a bit more. But I wasn't let down if/when she didn't.
Saying あなた feel left out because no American wizards are mentioned (which is in itself false- See Goblet of 火災, 火 (Salem Witches Institute)) is like saying the British feel left out because there are no British characters/settings in To Kill A Mockingbird. Besides, America has the monopoly on Film, TV and other media. Sure, Harry Potter is great, but can't あなた be satisfied with your own media?
Why should Americans feel excluded ? Honestly, the action takes place in Britain, with British main characters. The other nations do not complain, why should Americans cry over this ? Grow up, folks, you're not the center of the world.
No. How can anyone feel left out because there isn't much mention of America? Literature and film-wise, there is so much that revolves around America. What about countries like Bolivia, Turkmenistan etc.? They get nowhere near as much attention as America. And あなた can't expect J.K. Rowling to mention every country in the world.
She does mention American wizards. Subtlely, like in jokes and stuff または side conversations, but she does agknowledge they are there. I guess it's kinda hard for it to come up because the U.S. is so far away. The same goes for Asian and Russian wizards. They don't really come up a lot.

No. The story is set in Britain, so obviously it would mainly focus on British people. She did mention american witches/wizards at the Quidditch World Cup. But besides the point, I've read a lot of 本 from america and they hardly mention british people. Don't expect America to be mentioned in every thing あなた read または watch. I'm Filipino, but I don't feel left out just because JKR didn't mention Filipino witches/wizards in the series.
J.K. Rowling mentions a group of American witches at the Quidditch World Cup in GOF. Other than that, there are no other mentions of American wizards または American wizarding societies. I don't see why Americans in particular should feel left out, the only other countries that get involved in the 本 are Ireland (Irish Quidditch team) Bulgaria (Durmstrang/Krum) and Albania... it's not like they talked about every other country on earth's wizards but America's.
