I really really didn't understand. To be honest, I thought it was rude and disrespectful and I'm sure there was a hidden message to TR from Shonda right there.

Agree with (dermer4ever) T!
Typical Grey's reaction LOL~ I think it lightened the mood even so slighty...I have to admit I cried my eyes out for George but at that moment I laughed along ~ It really reminded of when Izzie had told Alex and George that she laughs at funerals~

Ok guys i think that you aren't understanding the point of it that was a throwback to season 2 when Izzie was laughing when Meredith had her hand stuck in the body and Izzie said she she laughed at funerals and that had nothing to do with shondra on tr she didn't write the episode krista did and cathie totally agree.

Oh God, i'm shocked.
I understand Izzie, i remember her saying she laughs at situations like this.
But the others? I don't know, i find this AWFUL. :|

He died and they are making jokes?

I hate it, it shows a HUGE fault of respect for George, like it always has been. He's the 007, Bambi, whatever. And it's sad people make fun of him even at his funeral.
Would people laugh at Derek's funeral, for example? I don't think so. But it's Georgie, it's okay to make fun of him, because it's been this way since day one.

I admite i laughted a bit, because of Alex's face. lol
But i hate the whole situation. I honestly wish i had never seen this scene. =S

And it shocks me like hell that i'm the only person that picked the "i hate it" option.

I totally agree with Cas_Cat_2 but I was so pissed and it feels odd to see a stranger cry George and his friends and bestfriend laugh at him. I was really angry for this moment even if I wasn't a big fan of him but I liked his character.

I didn't feel like they were laughing AT him, not in a mean way.

We know they were all extremely sad and grieving. Izzie started laughing (because that's what she does at funerals, LOL) and the others laughed along because, IMO, they had all this pent up stress - it was a way for them to relax a second and not think a close friend had died.

^ I know and i understand what you mean. Maybe it was just stress.
What makes me angry, is that i don't really see it happen in other moments.
Would they have made the same if it was Izzie's funeral, for example? It's always George. People even make fun of him at his own funeral.

And it's not just that.
I find it very disrespectful because of the way they laughed. It wasn't just like a sad laugh or something. They were actually hysterically laughing. If it was me in their place, i really don't see myself doing that. And i would feel awfull if i did.

I agree with Terra about it being classic Greys. I mean, RIP, but George would have been laughing too had he been there. I think the laughter was the stress but also just like "How much more insane and worse can it get?"
Maybe it was disrespectful but that's life. I mean they weren't meaning to be disrespectful. I honestly think that most of them were still in denial since later we see Meredith, Christina, and Izzie comes to term with it in their own ways.
But, I'm not suprised if die-hard (no pun intended) George fans were insulted. I'm very protective of my favorite characters also.

OK, so I din't hate the scene, but I sisn't really love it eather. It was weard, it was unexpected. It stopped me for crying a sec.

So the thing is. I've been reading all your comments. And the first thing; I really don't thing they were laughing AT him. They were laughing AT the whole situation. They were laughing 'couse everything has changed so much since they first met. And now George is DEAD. None would have guessed that.
And it was kinda weard. Thet the girl who had never met George was crying more than his mother.

I think it was most of them beeing in shock. George is dead. He is gone. They are never going to see him again. I think it's just a part of loosing someone you love. not really understanding what has happened. They were just thinking about the weardness of the situation. I'm sure they didn't laugh at george. I even think that George wasn't the main reason why they laughed. It was just about how much everything has changed.

Like I said. I didn't love it. But I do agree with T and Catie, it was really Grey's like. I didn't hate it eather. I understood the reason.

I really hated that scene. I know it was supposed to be funny or whatever - how that they all really cared or some crap, but I hated it. I wasn't mad when I was watching it but I was just kinda like "What the fuck is this?" his mum's at that funeral, his friends everyone who knows him and you - the people supposed to be his friends are laughing.

By the way I don't find it weird that the girl he saved was crying - even more than everyone else. What she's trying to live with is the fact that because she didn't look properly while crossing the road a selfless good person who saves lives died to save her life. Ummm I'd probably be crying my eyes out too.

Totally agree with Cas_Cat just because it's George it's fine. Like he was somehow worth less than the rest of them - like some sort of joke or something.

He jumped in front of a bus to save someone else's life - he was better than all of them (I mean Izzie, Meredith, Alex, Cristina) and it annoyed me how in the earlier seasons they talked about him like he was weak just because he was a well adjusted careing person.

^ Sarah, i couldn't agree more with you. ='[

I get that they were trying to get over the situation.
But seriously, let's face it.

Would they do the same if it was other person? No. But it's okay to move on and laugh because it's George.

Wouldn't you want your friends to laugh about you, instead of them being so sad? I mean, isn't it great that they can still see a bright side of it all, even though they have been trough such a hard time? That they can go one with their lifes, even when Georgies life stopped? Or would you want your friends to be like depressed forever and go down without you?

MARRR, no, i wouldn't want my friends to stop living because of me. But maybe show a little respect?

I can ask you some questions too, then.

Would you laught at your friend's funeral? Hysterically laught at your friends funeral and make fun of the way he/she died? And make fun of another's person grief?

Just a story: a couple years ago a friend of mine committed suicide and at his funeral I was obviously very sad and crying. But then just one moment I saw one of the guests being really weirdly dressed and I just couldn't help laughing. And because the whole thing was just so stressfull and full of emotion laughter just came pouring out and soon all of us (the friends) were laughing. It was a really weird moment and maybe some people misunderstood but talking to his parents later they understood that we had to let some of the pressure off, that it was just too much to comprehend, there's no dealing with something like that. All the emotion has to come out either way so that's why you laugh. I don't think that the person who cries the hardest "shows the most respect" to the deceased.
I think all of the characters will continue to show their respect to George by remembering him and grieving him for the rest of their lives whereas that Amanda girl will probably move on.
I know that I think of my friend every day still and I've told his parents so many times, I've paid my respects. I'm not sorry for letting my emotions take the better part of me at his funeral.

And that's why I loved the scene because I could relate to it and because it was just so realistic and different.

Edit: typo.

hmm idk. i was watching the epi with my friend and she doesnt usually watch greys and shes like, "omg theyre horrible for laughing" and i was like, "well izzie told alex and george she laughs at funerals in s2 so i figure its a throwback" but still when i was watching it i felt soo confused lol, i wasnt sure wether to cry or laugh. i thought it was a cute greys moment with the 4 of them yet highly innopropriate. i was seriously waiting for some good emtional scenes and they never came. i get tho that it went with the whole theme of handling grief differently. they were all botteling up their emotions in one way or another, i guess it just hadnt hit them yet that george was gone. but still i was kinda dissapointed by the scene. yet i liked it lmao. gosh it was one huge contradiction.

I loved it. I was laughing right along side with them. It was a little disrespectful to George but I know, I don't want my friends or family to grieve too much when I die and it was ironic what they were saying. If George were there listening, he would have laughed too.

@ Cas_Cat_2,
well sometimes a situation is just so ridiculous, that all you can do is laugh about it. Just so unbelievable, that when you think about it, you start laughing, you know what I mean? And sometimes it is good to make a little fun of it, you know, just look at it from another perspective (or whatever it is called), but yes, i can understand you finding it disrespectful, but I think it is good that they look at it from this other perspective.

It's like when George's dad died, George said something like: "I laugh, everytime I think I am never going to see him again", just that idea is so ridiculous, that you laugh about it, you know? Besides, it is just their way of getting trough the awkward situation, and it's not that they don't care about Georgie.
