‘ big win for outstanding drama series at the 2016 Emmys, executive producer David Benioff addressed the question head-on: “You might want to ask George about that,” said Benioff to reporters backstage, referring to author George R.R. Martin. “It’s a great world that George created. I think it’s a very rich world, and I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros, but for us, this is it. That’s really a question for George.”
Martin then stepped up to give hope to 
 fans: “Well, I do have thousands of pages of fake history — everything that led up to 
 — so there’s a wealth of material there, and I’m still writing more.”
Unfortunately, much like the long wait for winter — and the even longer wait for the sixth book in Martin’s 
 series — don’t expect a prequel anytime soon. “At the moment, we still have this show to finish, and I still have two books to finish, so that’s all speculation,” Martin said.
