Singer Jesse Leach says of the band’s creative process on the mixtape:

… while I was writing the song, I didn’t really know what I was talking about. But [the show producers] give you a concept, they give you key words that you should use and sort of give you a storyline. And it was fun for me to work in that capacity, ’cause I’m used to just coming up with stuff on my own off the spot. And they had a lot of cool trigger words, so it was interesting to see that come together.

The mixtape itself is produced by Launch Point Records, and features 15 songs by various artists including Snoop Dogg, Method Man, and Anthrax. Each song includes samples from Ramin Djawadi’s Season 4 score.

Is it just me or has there been less news, trailers etc this year? Season 5 is starting in less than two months and it really doesn’t feel that way. I guess it’s gotten popular enough to not need much promotion anymore.

Also, any word on HBO Go streaming only service? Is it going to be available before the GoT premiere? I don’t have HBO anymore and don’t want to have to pirate it.

I feel the same way and I didn’t even follow GoT fansites like this one around this time last year. It did seem like there were more videos, I think the second trailer had premiered by this time last year. It’s like they’ve pushed back everything this year, perhaps because this season has taken them the longest to make, most difficult to date. Hopefully they can actually film seasons 6 and 7 on schedule and not force us to wait a year or more between the finale and next season’s premiere, but I fear that’s going to be next.

I’m not sure why, most of the actors have no clue what the books are about. Doesn’t mean they aren’t excellent for the part.

I think it’s safe to assume that no one on these albums knows jack about the show besides Snoop and Dominik Omega (from Vol I.). But the song may still be good, despite that.

I disagree. Nothing written for pay from a grab-bag of random words can be anything other than corporate Muzak.

Did not the composer of the GoT series know nothing about the books and took only a day or so to write the theme song?

Not knowing the source vs quality product needs to be separate here. I know plenty of fan based songs that are absolute shit.
