Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore,
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door-
Only this, and nothing more."

Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December,
And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.
Eagerly I wished the morrow;- vainly I had sought to borrow
From my 本 surcease of sorrow- sorrow for the ロスト Lenore-
For the rare and radiant maiden...

In spring of youth it was my lot
To haunt of the wide world a spot
The which I could not 愛 the less-
So lovely was the loneliness
Of a wild lake, with black rock bound,
And the tall pines that towered around.

But when the Night had thrown her pall
Upon that spot, as upon all,
And the mystic wind went by
Murmuring in melody-
Then- ah then I would awake
To the terror of the lone lake.

Yet that terror was not fright,
But a tremulous delight-
A feeling not the jewelled mine
Could teach または bribe me to define-
Nor Love- although the 愛 were thine.

Death was in that poisonous wave,
And in its gulf a fitting grave
For him who thence could solace bring
To his lone imagining-
Whose solitary soul could make
An Eden of that dim lake.

Kind solace in a dying hour!
Such, father, is not (now) my theme-
I will not madly deem that power
Of Earth may shrive me of the sin
Unearthly pride hath revell'd in-
I have no time to dote または dream:
You call it hope- that 火災, 火 of fire!
It is but agony of desire:
If I can hope- Oh God! I can-
Its fount is holier- もっと見る divine-
I would not call thee fool, old man,
But such is not a gift of thine.

Know thou the secret of a spirit
Bow'd from its wild pride into shame.
O yearning heart! I did inherit
Thy withering portion with the fame,
The searing glory which hath shone
Amid the jewels of my throne,
Halo of Hell!...

OF my country and of my family I have little to say. Ill usage and length of years have driven me from the one, and estranged me from the other. Hereditary wealth afforded me an education of no common order, and a contemplative turn of mind enabled me to methodize the stores which early study very diligently garnered up. -- Beyond all things, the study of the German moralists gave me great delight; not from any ill-advised admiration of their eloquent madness, but from the ease with which my habits of rigid thought enabled me to detect their falsities. I have often been reproached with the...

Ah, broken is the golden bowl! the spirit flown forever!
Let the ベル toll!- a saintly soul floats on the Stygian river;
And, Guy de Vere, hast thou no tear?- weep now または nevermore!
See! on yon drear and rigid 棺台, ビール low lies thy love, Lenore!
Come! let the burial rite be read- the funeral song be sung!-
An anthem for the queenliest dead that ever died so young-
A dirge for her the doubly dead in that she died so young.

"Wretches! ye loved her for her wealth and hated her for her pride,
And when she fell in feeble health, ye blessed her- that she died!
How shall the ritual, then, be read?- the requiem...

I've been a long time admirer of Edgar Allan Poe and his works. I've always enjoyed 読書 his short stories. He is a true master of suspense.
It was sad to learn that a writer of his caliber was found in a distressed state in his final days leading up to his death in October of 1849.
Throughout history, it seems that those who have 与えられた us the greatest art sometimes leave this mortal plane in the saddest fashion. Writers like Jack Kerouac, Ernest Hemingway, and many others seem to have been in great turmoil in their final hours and undeserving of their premature demise. This was the case...

'Tis 発言しました that when
The hands of men
Tamed this primeval wood,
And hoary trees with groans of woe,
Like warriors によって an unknown foe,
Were in their strength subdued,
The virgin Earth Gave instant birth
To springs that ne'er did flow
That in the sun Did rivulets run,
And all around rare お花 did blow
The wild rose pale Perfumed the gale
And the queenly lily adown the dale
(Whom the sun and the dew
And the winds did woo),
With the gourd and the グレープ, ブドウ luxuriant grew.

So when in tears
The 愛 of years
Is wasted like the snow,
And the fine fibrils of its life
によって the rude wrong of instant strife
Are broken at a blow
Within the heart
Do springs upstart
Of which it doth now know,
And strange, sweet dreams,
Like silent streams
That from new fountains overflow,
With the earlier tide
Of rivers glide
Deep in the ハート, 心 whose hope has died--
Quenching the fires its ashes hide,--
Its ashes, whence will spring and grow
Sweet flowers, ere long,
The rare and radiant お花 of song!

Edgar Allan Poe is and will remain my お気に入り poet of all time. He changed the world with his works. He didn't gain his fame until after his death. It took people in the 1900's and late 1800's to recognize his true genius. Edgar Allan Poe was definitely the best at what he did.Till this day, there is no one who can be compared to Edgar Allan Poe. Some people aspire to write like Edgar Allan Poe, and I'm one of them. We try to grasp his concepts, but cannot. We try to write about horror and love, but we just can't do it. No one can master and grasp his influences of horror, gloom, mystery,...
