They really should. Zootopia was phenomenal and most of that was due to the originality of the story and it's universe. Time to take a hiatus from the Disney Princess stuff.

I'm okay with them taking old stories and turning them into movies (especially as they often do put a lot of originality into those and only base them on the source material quite loosely), but I agree with the above comment in that they have produced some great stuff through creating their own stories too.

Right now, my main issue with the company is that they're too absorbed in their live-action remakes of stories that they've already made movies of. It's not to say all of these live-action movies will be bad (I thought their new Beauty and the Beast was fantastic) but just the fact that they've got such a ridiculous amount of this going on right now! If they want to make live-action stuff, couldn't they at least choose stories that they haven't already tackled, or write something new from scratch?

Plus they're neglecting their animation department. They've got, what, a couple of sequels planned in terms of animated movies? I guess the plus side is that the sequels probably will have original stories, but there are dangers in making sequels (finding that balance between not repeating yourself, and making something that remains true to the original movie).

I daresay they have something original in the works, even if it's in the early stages right now, but their abundance of unoriginal upcoming material definitely outweighs that right now.
