The following morning, after the exhausting drive and ghost fiasco the night before, everyone slept-in. Judy Quackmore, who was not thrilled によって this at all, began to march from room to room at about nine o’clock banging two pans together and yelling, “Get up! Rinse and shine, all あなた lazy bones!”
Even after everyone had gotten up and gathered in the breakfast-nook she was still not happy with the group’s attitude. デイジー sat at the 表, テーブル and yawned, “Mrs. Quackmore, why did あなた have to ruin my beauty sleep?”
“Well, we didn’t come here for our beauty sleep, now did we?!” Judy snapped. “And we’ve already ロスト a lot of time today so let’s begin the 日 making breakfast and earning our ‘Cooking’ merit badge. Hop to it!”
“Um… just a moment…I need me morning coffee before I begin the day,” Scrooge yawned, and then called drowsily “Uh…Duckworth could ye bring a cup of coffee to me?”
“Yes sir.” Duckworth replied as he went into the kitchen.
“Yeah can I have some…coffee…too” デイジー yawned.
“Yes, I think… I need some…coffee…too.” Minnie said, sleepily, and then nodded off with her head resting on the table.
“Mr. McDuck! Just because we’re staying in your fancy キャビン does not mean あなた get to have your servants wait on you!” Judy shouted. “Besides poor Duckworth needs a break from his work.” She 発言しました as she tried to hug him.
“Not interested Madame.” Duckworth replied as he walked past her and set the three cups of coffee on the table.
“Thank ye Duckworth.” Scrooge 発言しました and began to drink his coffee.
As he drank the coffee he started to hear some giggling. When he glanced over he noticed that Minnie was still asleep with her head on the table, and Webby, Millie, and Melody were now decorating her with sparkly stickers. He raised his eyebrows and studied them for a moment then shook his head.
After the adults had finished their cups of coffee they all stepped into the kitchen, ready to earn their “Cooking” merit badge. Standing in front of the group Mrs. Quackmore called, “Now raise your hand if you’ve ever cooked anything.”
Several hands went up. The girls proudly remembered the times that they had cooked something, while the adults remembered it a little differently.
“Well, it looks like some of あなた have had some cooking experience. Anyway let’s get started. The Chickadees will be divided into three groups. Group one will make the pancakes, group two will make the omelets, and group three will cook the breakfast meat.” Then she turned to the chaperones, “Daisy あなた get to monitor group three, Minnie…”
She was interrupted, “Ew! I can’t cook meat I happen to be a vegetarian!” デイジー exclaimed.
“Um… since when?” Minnie asked.
“Uh…Since now!” デイジー replied arrogantly.
Judy shook her head, “Fine, デイジー あなた get the first group!” She snapped, “Minnie, you’ll get the third one, and Mr. McDuck will get the second.” She paused, then 発言しました to Scrooge, “Mr. Mcduck...forgive me for asking this but have あなた ever cooked before?”
Scrooge glared at her, and snapped, “Aye, of course I have. What do ye think I was born yesterday? I’ve cooked indoors on the stove, and outdoors over a camp 火災, 火 in the most hazardous conditions.”
“Oh, well I just wondered, what with your opulent lifestyle...I mean...I just wanted to make sure あなた knew how to cook before I put あなた in charge of supervising the girls,” Judy replied, paused for moment and then added “Oh, and remember girls cannot be under the supervision of their guardian. The point of this exercise is to teach the girls how to cook on their own. So Minnie; April, May and June will be in your group. Mr. McDuck あなた get Millie and Melody in yours. And, Daisy; Webbigail will be in your group.”
When the girls were divided into three groups Scrooge was happy that Millie and Melody would be in his group. He had been wanting to get to know them better, but didn’t want to appear too inquisitive. However, he was not so fond of the idea of Webby being placed in group one, under Daisy’s supervision. デイジー was nice enough but she was too easily distracted, he thought to himself as he glanced over and saw she was her looking at her reflection in トースター to apply lipstick. He stood there staring at them, trying to think of a way he could keep an eye on that group without appearing overprotective. Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by, “Um... Mr. Scrooge, how many eggs go in a omelet?” coming from Melody.
“Yeah, and how much of this stuff do we need in it?” Millie asked as she held up a pepper and chunk of cheese.
Scrooge quickly turned around and saw the faces of several little girls eagerly waiting for him to direct them. So, again he dismissed his worries as silly, and went to work 表示中 the Chickadees the proper way to make a hardy omelet.
Minnie was a little disappointed that Daisy’s nieces were her group. They weren’t bad girls. They were just a little too obsessed with fashion and celebrities, especially for girls their age.
As Minnie helped them cook the breakfast meat, she tried desperately to get April, May, and June to pay もっと見る attention to what they were doing. And less attention to telling everyone which セレブ were vegans, and would not eat what they were cooking. “April, no one cares who is a vegetarian, now pay attention!” Minnie snapped, after witnessing one of the girls toss a piece of bacon, while still giving the list, and it land on the side of pan.
“That’s vegan, Miss Minnie” May corrected.
デイジー continued to apply her make-up while looking in the トースター and not pay much attention to the girls, until she heard, “Uh... my pancake got messed up!” coming from Webby.
デイジー turned around and saw a partially cooked pancake laying over the edge of the pan. “Um...I think あなた flipped it wrong Webby. Here let me try.” 発言しました another girl. Who tried to flip another pancake and got the same result. “Oops,” she said.
“Step aside girls I’ll 表示する あなた the right way to flip a pancake.” デイジー 発言しました proudly, as she picked up a pancake on the spatula.
“Um...Aunt デイジー I don’t think that’s how it works either.” Webby 発言しました as she watched デイジー toss it high up in the air.
“See, easy!” デイジー said, as it landed in the pan. All the girls applauded as she bowed. “Plate, please!” she called as soon as it was finished.
One of the girls handed her a plate. To show-off デイジー decided to give the pancake one もっと見る toss in air before putting on the plate, with the rest. Unfortunately this time she tossed a little too high and swung back a little too much. “Uh...Aunt Daisy...” Webby started to say.
The pancake went flying into the air across the counter and landed in fresh vegetables that Scrooge was helping the girls chop-up for the omelets. “Burst me bagpipes!” he shouted, as all the five little girls in his group shrieked, and clung to him.
“Oh no, a haunted pancake!” Millie screamed.
“Look, Mr. Scrooge, the ghosts we saw last night are haunting our food!” Melody yelled.
The commotion startled Minnie causing her to jump and drop the plate of breakfast meat on the floor. “Oh, dear!” she said, and then quickly looked over to see what was the matter. She could not help but laugh at the sight Scrooge looking very tense and awkward with five little girls clinging to him, all of which were afraid of pancake lying on the counter. She thought about going over and assisting him, but decided that if Uncle Scrooge was going to continue to be chaperone for the Chickadees he’d need to learn to deal with groups of little girls on his own.
As soon as the shock wore off Scrooge tensely patted the girls on heads, “Uh...there, there, lassies I can assure ye that’s no a haunted pancake.”
“It isn’t?” Melody asked.
“Then what’s going on with it?” asked Millie.
“Aye, it’s no a haunted pancake. I’ll bet ye I know where it came from,” he said, and then called, “Daisy watch how ye flail those thing!”
“Oops, sorry!” デイジー said, trying to sound innocent.
“Sorry, Uncle Scrooge!” Webby called.
After breakfast they stepped out into the yard. Judy looked around at the overgrown, unkempt, and untrimmed grounds that likely had not been cared for in a few months. “Well, I guess we could earn our ‘Gardening’ and ‘Grounds Keeping’ patches によって cleaning this place up a little.”
“I suppose we could do that, as long as it’s alright with Uncle Scrooge. Remember this is his キャビン after all.” Minnie replied.
“Aye, it’s fine with me, since me grounds keepers only comes every three months. I have never understood paying someone to keep-up property I am no using. But anyhow having the wee Chickadee’s do it for free will be a bonnie treat for me.” Scrooge replied.
Minnie didn’t 登録する the others in yard work immediately. While they were cleaning the yard she sat on the porch, trying to wash the skunk odor out of Scrooge’s nightshirt, nightcap, and spats in a tub of トマト juice. She smiled as she looked out into the yard she saw all the girls mowing, trimming, planting, and weeding. All of them were eager to earn their badges, and the chaperones eager to assist them.
She looked over and saw Scrooge helping Webby Millie and Melody weed the garden. She thought how cute the four of them looked together. Then she noticed Mrs. Quackmore walk によって and raise her eyebrows at them. After seeing that she desperately hoped the tension between her and Scrooge was over.
Minnie soon joined the rest of the group in the yard work. She was enjoying herself, helping some little girls plant seeds.
When they had finished cleaning-up the yard it was evening and almost time for dinner, “Well maybe we can still get some of our arts and crafts badges in before supper.” Mrs. Quackmore 発言しました as she looked around the yard, that was much better looking now than it was when they first started.
While the girls sat on the porch working on their ‘Sewing’ patch April, May, and June were having a hard time earning theirs’. When Webby noticed she came over to where they were sitting hoping to help. “Um... hi... do あなた need some help? I could help あなた if あなた want.”
“Uh... No offense Webby, but what do あなた know about sewing?” May asked.
“Um... I earned my ‘sewing’ patch as Jr. Woodchuck.” Webby explained.
“Oh, okay. Thanks,” June replied.
Meanwhile back in Duckburg the Jr. Woodchucks were having a meeting of their own, to plan their annual camping trip and the annual competition with the Chickadees. “Well, I don’t know why we’re even having this meeting,” one of the boys said. “The girls should be easy to beat this year.”
“Why should they be so easy?” Huey asked.
“Cause they’ve totally whimped out and are staying in a fancy vacation cabin,” the other boy explained, “My sister’s a 四十雀, チョコレート and she told me.”
“Fancy vacation cabin?” Dewey said, “I thought their cabins burned down and they were gonna have to sleep in tents.”
“Yeah, me too!” 発言しました Louie, and then all the boys started to laugh at the idea of the Chickadees in a vacation cabin.
Mickey’s nephews, who were sitting near Donald’s nephews, were also very surprised to hear this news, “Golly, a vacation cabin! That actually sounds pretty cool!” 発言しました Morty.
Donald and Mickey who were talking to the troop leader, Launchpad, stopped talking when then heard the boys laughing and turned to them “What the heck is so funny?!” Donald snapped.
“Uncle Donald, did あなた hear that the girls are staying in a fancy vacation cabin?” Dewey 発言しました still laughing.
“Yes. I knew about that and if I were あなた I’d stop laughing since that’s Uncle Scrooge’s vacation キャビン they’re staying in.”
“Uncle Scrooge’s!” exclaimed Louie.
“How do あなた know it’s Uncle Scrooge’s, did he tell you?” Huey asked.
“Yes, he told me that’s where he and Webby would be, if we need them,” Donald replied, “Also, I got a text from デイジー with a picture of her in front of his キャビン that says, ‘I’m staying in a celebrity’s vacation home!’.”
The conversation was interrupted によって Launchpad, “That’s right. First of all we need to decided weather the Chickadees should come and stay in our cabins, または if we should go stay in Mr. McD’s cabin. Since the ones they use, across the lake from ours’ are gone.”
“I say definitely Uncle Scrooge’s cabin.” Donald answered. “It’s bigger then all the Woodchuck cabins put together. So it’ll be easier for all of us to stay together.”
“Have to agree with that,” Mickey replied.
“Now one もっと見る thing. I’d like to thank あなた two for agreeing to be chaperones, since your nephews, Morty and Ferdie and Huey, Dewey and Louie; are members of this Woodchuck troop. But, we’ve still gotta find a third one, and all the other parents seem to be busy.”
Mickey thought for moment “I guess I could talk to Goofy, あなた know how much he loves the Woodchucks.”
“No not Goofy!” Donald groaned, “I thought I’d never hear the end of him telling how his little Maxie earn all his badges!”
Ignoring Donald, Launchpad replied, “Great あなた do that, Mickey!”
That night, back at Scrooge’s cabin, everyone sat in the living room. “Well, it’s almost ベッド time.” Judy Quackmore said, “Before we go to ベッド who wants to hear a...”
Scrooge, Minnie, and Daisy, interrupted her, “No ghost stories!” they shouted.
“Don’t ye dare tell one of those ghost stories, unless ye want a good knock from me cane!” Scrooge 発言しました angrily, as waved his cane in air, and succeeded in accidentally hitting デイジー in the head with it.
“Hey watch it with that stick!” she snapped.
“Um... I wasn’t going to say ghost story, I was going to say fairytale.” Judy replied. After hearing that everyone quickly settled down to listen.
After everyone was in ベッド the girls lay awake thinking about the ghosts they saw last night, wondering if they were real または just a bad dream. Soon they began to doze-off. Suddenly, the same eerie howling they had heard the night before awaked them. They all sat straight up in bed. “D-do think it’s the ghost again?” Webby stammered.
“I s-s-sure hope not.” Millie replied.
“Um...Should w-w-we go tell the grown-ups?” Melody asked.
“Um...I guess,” Webby answered, “But ‘member they didn’t believe us last time.”
“Yeah you’re right,” 発言しました May.
“I guess we need to make sure it’s the ghost before we tell them.” 発言しました June.
“Well, who’s going to go make sure?” asked April.
“We’ll all go together,” Webby replied.
So the fifteen little girls held hands and walked over to the window. As they looked out they saw they same terrifying ghosts that had been there last night. “Ghosts!” they shrieked and went running out of the room.
