I'm for co-ed bathrooms period. Kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, public restrooms, I think they all should be co-ed.

I think it's more acceptable in college, but in high school people are really immature in general and I feel like there could be a lot of bad stuff going on...

^Then why have bathrooms with multiple stalls at all? Do lesbians and gays not have sex as often as straight people?

i dont like the idea of sharing bathrooms i wouldn't want girls looking and my gentleman parts while im at the urinal, not that i want men looking at it ether, also highschool students are not mature from my highschool experience and i and more then sure some girls would see more then they would want or that peaking would happen.

Also from what i hear from my famliy members who all worked in retail or resterants the women's room is always way worse for some reason. Ohh and as a man i have never had to wait at a bathroom even when my sister and mom do so if we all shared a room, or rooms, I might have to hold it ;)

I apparently am a unique individual for not caring what's between the legs of the people I'm sharing a public bathroom with...?

No, you aren't unique bri-marie. I agree with your logic from the first comment, I just come to a different conclusion as a result. If this question said "Do you think all bathrooms should be co-ed?" I would unequivocally say yes. However, that's not what it says. It says college and high school only, and my concern is that by that point in peoples' lives, pretty much everyone is already ensconced in gender norms. Many people would be highly averse to the idea of sharing a bathroom with members of the opposite sex, and while I agree that that shouldn't be a problem, it's one we have to face. So I'd definitely do it at certain schools that are more experimental, but I can't say yes with the knowledge of all the real world harms that would almost certainly be incurred by people who find the situation appalling.

I'm game for co-ed bathrooms, I mean it isn't going to hurt anyone, in all honesty it can save some people a lot of face. As you don't have to worry about the elementary school embarrassment of *le gasp* walking into the opposite sex bathroom and getting picked on. Plus by high school/college I don believe most people are mature enough to walk into a co-ed bathroom, do their own thing an leave like a civilized being.

Most people here are for equal gender rights, technically co-ed bathrooms support them, if you know what I mean. In a way it's desegregating bathrooms.

@bri Trust me you're not the only one who doesn't care to look at others' 'junk'. I just want to go and do my business and leave.

@wagakagami I can see where your coming from, I wouldn't want men looking at my lady parts. But with the urinals I would imagine you can use the stalls if you are uncomfortable with it. No one is forcing you to use the urinals with ladies present, or even with men present.

Because it is for college/high school bathrooms, there are bound to be immature idiots that will ruin it for everyone else (as we know, there are many of these 'real-life trolls' out there). However, the question is, do we do it anyway and take the good with the bad, or do we just flag the idea? I can't say for either. Personally, I kinda have to agree with Bri-marie and Zanhar. Perhaps these students would become more comfortable with their sexuality because of an idea like this. Who knows. Either way, I can't say 'yes', or 'no'.

@zanhar1 With using the stall i almost always do anyway cause of two people getting peed on in elemntary school. But i do still think there would be a peeping problom at least in high school. Also im surprised at how mature people think high school students are i was in highschool not all that long ago and boys and girls were immature the whole way through not all of them all of the time but a lot of them are at least some of the time, not that being immature sometimes is a bad thing. also im might sound like an idiot here but questions are to be asked what are the benefits of coed bathrooms? I'm sure there are some but i dont really know :(

@Waga. The benefits? Well, for one, it would allow students the chance to become more comfortable with their sexuality. Also, it would probably end up saving money, so they wouldn't have to build two separate facilities to deal with gender segregation.

It's mainly about changing attitudes. If students are capable of being comfortable with people of all genders (and that's not just male and female), then we can start to modify the upturned that's been built up around gender norms. We spend a lot of time and effort in schools enforcing the differences between genders, and in doing so, we hamper the ability of each student to express themselves. Bathrooms are simply one of the most visible delineations. But just generally, it sends a message that a mature world is one where women and men can go to the bathroom in the same place without it being awkward. Part of the reason people feel concerned about privacy or other issues is that they believe that these students won't act maturely. I agree that such concerns are reasonable, but only because this maturity isn't a focus in early life. If students didn't see a difference in the places that girls and boys go to the bathroom for their entire school life, then they need not be fully mature to follow the rules, and I would argue that they would be more mature on the whole.

I could see why that'd be bothersome. As for peeping it's kind of done anyways. You don't sound like an idiot. I'd say some benefits would be equal sex rights. And people may be more comfortable with the opposite sex.

I can't even decide. I have a stance on this, but I have no idea how to phrase it because my views are probably warped by a strange phobia I have involving removing clothing in any public place with strangers nearby. I'd actually support banning all multi-stall restrooms, segregated or otherwise.
There was another poll about locker rooms where I managed to say something, and that same opinion probably applies here too, but the search bar is not working for me right now.

^^ Exactly and I'm sure it would clear up a lot of the women are sluts, seductive, are looking for sex stuff. It could clear up a lot of silly stereotypes.
