Railroad: Union Pacific

Percy: *Arrives* Sir?
Pete: *Puts the magazine away* Yes Percy.
Percy: I finished repairing the two tracks in the yards. Do あなた have anymore jobs for me?

Percy: Okay sir. *Leaves*

Canadian Pony: *Laughs* I 愛 that. Let me be brief, I work on the Canadian Pacific Railway. I need an engineer. Our location is Hitchcock. Have your ポニー fly into Saskatoon International Airport, and we'll provide transport the rest of the way to Hitchcock.
Pete: Okay. What time does she have to be there?
Canadian Pony: 1 PM, March 1st.
Pete: *Writing it down* Okay, thank you. *Hangs up* Hitchcock. I don't know where that is. *Grabs a map of North Equestria, and looks for any town called Hitchcock* It doesn't seem to be in the United States. *Looks in Canada* Hitchcock. It's in Saskatchewan. Now, to find that airport. *Finds it North from Hitchcock* Saskatoon International Airport is there. Okay, now I know where to send my worker. As for who I'm sending, I still need to figure that out.
Metal Gloss: *Arrives* Hi sir. Me, and Hawkeye just arrived in our train. Do あなた have another train for us to drive?
Pete: *Sees Metal Gloss* I got it. I know who to send to Canada.
Metal Gloss: Pardon?
Pete: I got a call from the Canadian Pacific, and they need an engineer in Hitchcock. Will あなた go there?
Metal Gloss: *Thinking* Okay.
Pete: Good.

Two days later at 6 AM, Hawkeye took Metal Gloss to the airport.

Hawkeye: Good luck working on the CP.
Metal Gloss: Thanks Pierce.
Hawkeye: *Kisses Metal Gloss* I'm going to miss you. Have fun.
Metal Gloss: Thank you. *Gets out of the car, and runs to the airport*
Hawkeye: *Drives away*

Railroad: Canadian Pacific

Ponies: *Sitting in a room, waiting for their boss*
Dike: I wonder who that new worker is Douglas got for us.
Highball: You're not the only one.
Douglas: *Walks into the room with Metal Gloss* Hello everypony, our new worker has arrived.
Metal Gloss: Hello.
Ponies: Hello.
Highball: Where'd あなた come from?
Metal Gloss: Cheyenne. I work on the Union Pacific.

As they left, Dike, and ハイボール took Metal Gloss to the roundhouse where they keep the engines.

Metal Gloss: *Looks in the roundhouse, and is very happy. Many of the engines are steam locomotives*
Dike: Look. Her face is beaming with joy.
Highball: *Smiles* I think I know why. *Looks at Metal Gloss with a serious expression on his face* No steam engines for you.
Metal Gloss: *Gets sad, and tears begin to come out of her eyes* Why?
Highball: *Laughs* I'm just teasing you. あなた don't have to cry.
Metal Gloss: *Feeling better*
Dike: We're going to drive a freight train with one of those engines. *Points at a streamlined engine with four drivers*
Metal Gloss: Ooh. That's beautiful. *Walks toward it with Dike, and Highball* あなた 発言しました we were pulling freight with this.
Highball: That's right.
Metal Gloss: This looks もっと見る like an engine for pulling an express train.
Dike: Well, it was built for hauling passengers, but with diesels invading our line, we have to use these engines for freight trains.

The three of them climbed into the engine's cab, and drove it to the yards.

Dike: *Slowly backing the engine toward a train of seventeen boxcars*
Highball: Have あなた ever driven steam trains before Metal Gloss?
Metal Gloss: Yes. On the Union Pacific, I drove mostly Northern type engines, but I also drove a few Challengers, and Big Boys.
Dike: Shit. That's a real honor there.
Highball: They're all scrapped, または retired now. A shame really, I want to drive one of those engines.
Dike: Our railway should have gotten their hooves on one of them. *Stops the engine as it gets coupled up to the train* Then we'd make a massive profit bringing everything to everyone.

Highball: Well of course they do, they're giants.
Dike: She has a point though. When her railway bought those engines in the 40's, they must have cost millions to build, and operate.
Metal Gloss: They were.
Dike: *Looks at the signal, seeing it change from red to green* Time to go. *Pulls the throttle*

The train slowly started to 移動する forward. The wheels slipped as steam shot out of the smokestack.

Dike: *Moves the throttle forward, then pulls it back again* I think we got it now. *Blows whistle twice*
Metal Gloss: *Thinking* How did あなた get the name Highball?
Highball: Well あなた see, my real name is Tim. Everyone here calls me Highball, because I like to drive at high speeds.
Metal Gloss: Even on sharp curves?
Highball: Certainly not. Only on straightaways. あなた have to be a madman to do something like that.
Dike: One of you, please start shoveling coal.
Metal Gloss: I'll do it.
Highball: No please, allow me. You're a special guest on our line. I don't want あなた to break your back doing this.
Metal Gloss: Well, thank you.
Highball: *Starts shoveling coal into the firebox*
Dike: *On the mainline, increasing speed*
Metal Gloss: Where are we going?
Highball: Eastbound, to Winnipeg.
Metal Gloss: *Excited, then looks out of the cab to see the scenery they pass*
Dike: We have a lot of flatland in this country. Mostly, because of prairies.
Metal Gloss: It's beautiful.
Highball: Really? Nopony has ever 発言しました that before.
Metal Gloss: Then they don't understand. I think it looks very nice.
Dike: Thanks. We like it too.

At 60 miles an hour, the train continued heading east for Winnipeg.

For a few days now, Metal Gloss has been working on the Canadian Pacific. She was having fun driving steam trains with Dike, and Highball.

Metal Gloss: *Stops the train in the yards*
Dike: *Blows the whistle for two seconds*
Highball: We've been working together really well.
Metal Gloss: I know. I 愛 it.
Douglas: *Arrives* Metal Gloss, how are things going?
Metal Gloss: Wonderful. I also wanted to thank あなた for letting me live with you.
Douglas: My pleasure.
Dike: Why can't she sleep with one of us?
Douglas: I'm the boss.
Highball: Well that figures.
Douglas: Anyway, I talked to a ポニー that was interested in joining us. He starts work here tomorrow, so this is your last 日 here.

Douglas: I'm pleased to hear that. Unfortunately, we will have to replace the last of our steam locomotives with diesels.

Metal Gloss: I guess that means every railway in this continent has been dieselized.
Douglas: Not quite. There is a narrow gauge railway run によって the Rio Grande, and they're still using steam engines.
Dike: How about the Norfoal & Western? They still have steam trains, right?
Highball: Yeah. They didn't get a diesel on their line until 1955.

Dike: We appreciate that.
Highball: And we're also glad あなた came to visit.
Metal Gloss: With gifts.
