'Assassination Classroom' Season 2 Ranked Most Anticipated Winter 2016 Anime Series

The winter 2016 anime season is closing in, with most fall series ending in just a few short weeks. If you\'re trying to plan out your watch schedule, now would be the time to figure it out.

Or, you risk my current situation of maybe having missed out on several anime series due to being too far behind.

Nevertheless, a new fan poll from Charapedia has revealed what fans are particularly looking forward to in the winter 2016 anime series. Garnering over 400 votes, "Assassination Classroom" season two was ranked the most anticipated anime series that will premiere this winter by Japanese fans. Fans view the full results of the poll here.

Though most of the top 10 anime series were follow up seasons to premieres from earlier this year, other fans are looking forward to the brand new NoitaminA series "Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi (The Town Where Only I Am Missing)."

"I\'m personally excited for \'Boku dake ga Inai Machi\', \'Nijiiro Days\', and final season of \'DRRR\'. This winter season looks decent," said Stark700 in an ANN forum.

Though "Assassination Classroom" season two received the most votes that appeared to be mostly due to a strong showing of female voters. When the polls were divided by gender, male voters were most looking forward to "GATE" and "Dagashi Kashi." "Assassination Classroom" was actually rated number ten by male voters.

The "Assassination Classroom" season two release date is set for Jan. 7. Funimation will once again stream the series for fans outside of Japan. For those not familiar with the series, it was originally a manga by Yusei Matsui.

Funimation describes the story of "Assassination Classroom" as follows:

"Forget about homework and pop quizzes. The students of Class 3E have a far more important assignment: kill their teacher before the end of the year! A tentacle-d sensei that moves at Mach 20 is out to conquer the classroom after destroying seventy percent of the moon."

"In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the murderous monster behind the lectern will teach his students everything he knows about the assassination game. Should some eager beaver prove to be a quick study in killing, he or she will save Earth from extinction - and collect a hefty reward."
