Why One Piece?

So many people 愛 One Piece. So I watched about thirty episodes in hopes that it would get better. It's pretty cheesy, the art is iffy, and they're all overly hyper.
Does the 表示する get better? Like on with the plot. Do the fighting scenes improve? Does Luffy EVER mature????

awww darn! Oh well I guess Zoro makes up in the maturity area anyways... Thanks for replying! I'll keep watching! :D

Thanks for replying! I continued watching a little more, and I'm finding that I am (slowly) starting to enjoy it little によって little. Of course, it'll probably never be my favorite, but I can now see the appeal. Thanks!:D
