Amanda Seyfried will star in a new sci-fi thriller from writer/director Andrew Niccol

The Allentown native will play a woman who has no digital footprint and is invisible to police in a dystopian future opposite Clive Owen.

In “Anon” Owen is a detective in a future world with no privacy, ignorance or anonymity,  when he meets the mysterious woman known only as “the Girl.”

The film reunites Seyfried with Niccol, who directed 2011\'s sci-fi  thriller “In Time,” in which she starred with Justin Timberlake.

She also is filming “American Express”  a  Nash Edgertown film about a newly married executive who has a stake in a pharmaceutical company that’s about to go public when his life is thrown into turmoil by an incident in Mexico. He’s stranded with a price on his head and discovers that the life he had never really existed in the first place.

The film also stars Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton, David Oyelowo, Yul Vazquez, Sharlto Copley and Joel Edgerton. Theron and Seyfried both previously worked together on “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”

She just could be seen in the recently released "Fathers and Daughters," in which a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer played by Russell Crowe grappled with a mental breakdown, while his grown daughter, played by Seyfried struggled to forge her own connections.

Recently finished shooting was the comedy movie "The Clapper," in which she stars with Ed Helms who plays the title character. Seyfried will star as  Judy, the night attendant at a local gas station and the love interest of Helm’s character.

"The Clapper" is about a professional clapper for infomercials who gets chosen by a late-night talk show host to be on his TV show. The notoriety that his 15 minutes of fame brings ends up costing him his job as well as a budding relationship with a girl who works at a gas station.

The film is by writer/director Dito Montiel, and adapted from his novel "Eddie Krumble is the Clapper." The book is the second for Montiel, who also adapted his first book, "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints," into a 2006 film starring Robert Downey Jr. and Shia LaBeouf.

In Montiel\'s book, Eddie and his friend Chris land a job clapping as paid audience members for infomercials and sitcoms. Good things seem to be happening for Eddie as he starts to develop a relationship with the gas station worker.

However, late-night host Jay Leno spots stills of Eddie in the audience of two different infomercials and realizes he is a clapper-for-hire. When Leno makes "Who is the Clapper?" into a show segment, Eddie\'s face appears on TVs and billboards all over and his life is turned upside down.

Seyfried also recently completed filming a comedy with Shirley MacLaine about a woman who writes her own obituary and the young reporter who befriends her. Seyfired portrays a young writer at the local newspaper in "The Last Word," directed by Mark Pellington.

MacLaine, who won an Academy Award for "Terms of Endearment," plays a retired businesswoman who wants to control everything around her, including her obituary, so she writes her own to ensure her life story is told her way. Seyfried\'s reporter decided to investigate MacLaine\'s character, which results in a reawakening of passions for MacLaine\'s character, and a life-altering friendship for Seyfried\'s.

Also starring is Anne Heche as MacLaine\'s estranged daughter and Philip Baker Hall as her ex husband.

Seyfried also plays a new character Becky in Showtime\'s revival of the 1990s cult drama series "Twin Peaks," for which Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee, Dana Ashbrook, Sherilyn Fenn and Kimmy Robertson reprise their original roles. The 18-episode series is set to air in 2017.

Seyfried got her start on TV in soap operas "All My Children" and "As the World Turns." She also has appeared in "Veronica Mars" and "Wildfire." Her last big TV show was HBO\'s "Big Love," in which she played Sarah Henrickson, the oldest daughter of a polygamist in the series that ran 2006-11.
